I just bought a new 03' banshee and i was gonna go to the dunes in a couple weeks and haven't rode it but up and down the street couple times, and was wondering how many hours or how many gas tanks i should go through before i can like ride it hard, cause the book says don't go above half throttle until after 10 hrs. and 10 hrs. is a long time. And it also says don't go above 3/4 throttle until after 20 hrs. So is that right or do some of you riders know different???? please share your knowledge.

 

I went ahead and zoomed my new blaster after about an hour. just dont hold the throttle at a steady high speed. keep changing engine speeds, you should be OK>

as all new 2 stroke engine when brand new,keep the jetting on safe side on the spark plugs,the first tank of gas normally the dealer drop some oil in then tank,be sure the engine do not overheating during the brake-in process,run the motor at different throttle setting without keeping it long,do not WOT the frist 4-5 tank of gas...20 hours seem to much.

 

Go easy on it for the first tank. Then give it he??. But I know a guy that breaks them in like he is going to ride them. He will start it and let warm up good and kill and letit cool a couple of time then gives it he??. Everybody has there own way of doing it.
