Default Help!,,,Need help! Banshee won't run correctly.

It will idle just fine, and will even start on the first or 2nd kick. After it idles for about 15-20 seconds, it is like the right side cyclinder drops off, the pipe doesn't get hot, and it barley puffs any smoke out(I have it running very fat right now). I have switched the plug wires, changed the carbs, changed the plugs, changed the reeds, checked the head, and it looks fine, also the compression is the same in each cyclinder(very low, but equal, 100lbs) . the left side cylinder heats up just fine, but when you give it gas, past 1/8-1/4 throttle it just bogs. I am at a lost, so please help if you can.......any help is appreciated............

Also changed the needle position and adjusted the air-fuel mixture screws......to no avail

LoL the problem is in the carb, ide almost bet money on it. one i worked on did somthing like that after i did a little carb work on one side and a put the little white plastic piece that goes in down on the bottom under the float bowl. check that if uve messed with it. it should have the little nipple like thing fitting into the thing that comes down the middle of the carb between the float. Have u made sure u have fire on that cynder. i think it might run on one if it has to but prolly not very long. some plugs may check good outside the bike but some will get so they dont fire under compression. guess all u can do is keep checkin and double checkin. its a 2 stroke there not normally that hard to diagnose.

One dark day when the sky was blue,
down the alley the banshee flew,
zing,pop,ping,
a scream was heard,
the raptors and were passed by a flyin blur,

and on his number plate it was writ,
If u can read this ur bike is slow S**t.

I''ll bet the carb balance tube has been knocked off or isn't installed properly.

Take off your seat and look down between the carbs. In between the carbs is a 1/4" rubber hose, about 4 inches long, that connects the two carbs together and "balances" them out. If this is unhooked, the right cylinder will not fire correctly.

If isn't connected, just slip it back on. It is that simple!

The little white plastic piece you are talking about is there, like I said I even put a different set of carbs off a running (just fine) banshee, the tube between the carbs is most definitely there...Thanks for the try though...

OK...the only other thing I can think of is make sure your carbs are synchronized with your throttle cable. Regardless of who's carbs you have installed, they will not function correctly if the throttle cable opens the carbs unequally.

There is a small, round glass sight on the right side of each carb. Take a q-tip and clean both of them.

Have someone slowly engage the throttle while you look in each glass sight with a flashlight. There will be a small mark in each glass that will come up in sight. These marks must enter into their respective glass at the same time. This ensures the carbs are getting equal amounts of fuel.

If one side is lower than the other, go to the top of that carb and tighten the throttle cable. This takes the slack out of that carb's cable and ensures an even flow of fuel as you open the throttle up.

The Yamaha owners manual explains the proceudre better than I have.

Good luck!

That is not it, done it. Remember I said, even at idle(have nothing to do with the slides moving up ) the ight side is not heating up. Has anyone heard of the crank gettting twisted? Someone local mentioned this to me, and I was wondering if it could be. Thanks again.

Well, sounds to me like the right carb is not getting enough fuel... Maybe just a trickle. Could the hose be clogged or kinked after it tees off from thepetcock?

It's got to be fuel related if the plugs/iwires.etc have been confirmed OK.

It could be the crank. A friend of mine had a Rotax and he was having the same problems. And it was his crank.
