I am interested in purchasing a year 2000 Big Bear 400 4X4 and I was wondering how well the low first gear performed while doing work as compared to a machine with low range? Also I own a '99 Grizzly and was wondering what kind of maintenance should be done to the ultramatic transmission and aproximately how long the belt will last before it should be replaced?

Thank you for any help.

The first gear is very low. I have use my BB to pull stumps, pull down dead still standing trees and crawl up steep hills. What the BB needs is a 6th gear!

00' 4x4 BB in central FL

I own a '00 Big Bear and although I have not done much pulling, I can tell you first gear is very low. It's so low that as soon as you start moving, it's time to shift to second.

I do wish it had a 6th gear.
