The spacer tube is not made of aluminum since it takes all the pressure from tightening the axle nuts so the bearings dont have to, aluminum would cave and stainless is to expensive. Acutally that tube should be changed with every few bearing changes since it too crushes under the pressure of tightening the axle. After a few seasons it will be shorter than it was designed for and not support the bearings properly.

McFly, they are "Pivot Works" bearings and seals. The two seals and two bearings come in a combo package for $36.

Yeah my local Yamaha dealership had them in stock ~ luckily! Believe it or not, that is what they use also!
I have also seen ads for them in the Dirt Wheels mags, if you happen to have any of those around. If I come across their website I'll let ya know.

The water gets in the carrier because there is no o-ring seal at the shoulder on the axle the sprocket hub sits against like most others have. Water goes through the spline on the axle, between the hub and the axle, and bypasses the seal of the bearing carrier. It took 2 tons on a hydraulic ram to par the hub from the axle. A thick coat of antiseeze on this spline will help seal out water, as well as keep the spline from sticking so bad in the event some water does get in.
