Default 01 Raptor, Any suggerstions

I just picked up an 01 Raptor for my daughter with only two rides on it for a price I could not refuse. I have heard horror stories about the transmissions, Any suggestions or potential problems I should be looking for?
Thanks
Bearman

Well as long it stock pipe on it, no modify on the bike, try not to use reverse at all. Then it should last for long time. You may or may not ever run into problem of the tranny.

What the vin number stated at? Look at the last seven number? (guys correct me if I am on the vin?)

Other that have fun.....

I have never had a problem with my 01 tranny other than that first and second gear are to spread out. The only thing to maybe consider is getting a better built 02 shock with a zps kit on it to lower the rear end. You have to machine the bushings about an eighth of an inch each to make the 02 shock fit on your 01 linkage. As far as shifting, just use common sense. These ***** doing reverse slams are the dipshits having problems(reversing then slamming into second and mashing the gas). Reverse has never failed me, and I use it alot on the trail.

I have had my 2001 for over a year now with not a problem. It is mostly ridden by my wife and friends now, but I do ride it on occasion. I use reverse and no problems. I do make sure to get it into gear, but no more than any other ride.

I think they are great machines, my only complaint is the gap from first to second, which by dropping a tooth on the front sprocket it is not really noticable.

congrats on the new purchase.

I unhooked my reverse cable and use it to flush the craptor.

Seriously our 01 Raptor has been a good machine. We keep it maintained and she's good to go.

Thanks for all of the advise guys, the id # is jy4amo1321a010024 if that helps. One last queston what is the least expensive way to widen and lengthen this quad, does this make it an all around better trail machine.

If you got a good deal on it, SELL IT NOW ! ! ! Before you start burying yourself in debt trying to keep up with the Bombs! ! ! LOL No, really, I like Raptors and think they are perfect for girls to ride, especially if you keep it close to stock.

Really, really HOT girls! ! ! Wait a minute... he bought it for his daughter...that's cool by me, even if it's a Raptor. By the way, my wife is getting an 03 LE Raptor. I tried to steer her right but sometimes women can be stubborn. LOL
