you bought a great machine. people tend to go a little crazy with these things seeing as how there are 500,000 aftermarket upgrades for them. i would agree with the other post on the air filter problem. the stock design really sucks. also, i would suggest removing the TORS units on top of the carbs if the 2000 model year has them. they are a safety device and nothing but a pain in the ***. there is an aftermarket cable replacement (pro-design i think) that is much better. have fun.

Here is a tip, go out and look at the plastic on it and see how you spell banchee correctly (should be Banshee) just playing with ya there dont get mad. I agree about going with that air filter, cause one of my friends didnt get one and his blew up about a week ago. Oh yeah and replace back tires cause they suck. Other than that go ride and have fun.

Pipes-new reed valves-K&N air filter- then when you want the next step go for a cool head 19 or 20 cc domes and port and polish. This will make it scream and the cool head will help it ahhhh run cooler. Just hang on for your life...

You say the machine is brand new.... One of the worst things you could do (unless your 100% comfortable w/ maintenance) is tear into it right from the get go.
When you start messing with settings and alter the way the engine performs...you need to tend to the bike more closely and carefully. I'm not saying that mods are a bad thing....My wallet knows what my Banshee is worth.
I'm just saying that it might be better to wait a while and get used to keeping up with the jetting , zerks, etc. before ripping it apart.
If you are all set and good to go, which I'm guessing is not true (or you would not be posting), Then go with a nice pipe set, along with some air box mods, and I'm sure you will be more than happy with the power. These mods alone are gonna run you another $500 or more .
good luck

I bought a new Banshee about three months ago and love this machine. my 400EX is now my girlfriends ride. I don't care how old the design is, it is a thrill to ride this powerful machine. I ride in the woods and needed more bottom end power. I went with a motofast 2 into 1 pipe and also their head mod. Then I removed the TORS system and kept the thumb throttle. I also added a filter plate and new foam filter to the airbox. Dura blue makes one similar to the proflow and it's half the price of the proflow (available at Nac's). Rejetted for the pipes and WOW! I can putt around just as slow as I want, or open it up and hold on tight! I love the motofast pipe, it helped out the bottom without giving up anything on top. If you ride trails I highly recommend this pipe.
