I'm having troble finding the right paddles for my trinity 686. I started with regular molded paddles when the bike was just piped and after I went to the trinity motor the bike would case out on take off in very soft sand. I'm now using 21-12-8 12 paddle extremes. They do not case out any more and I'm having to ride ride my tank to take off even with a 6" extended swing arm. It is manageble to take off without letting off the throttle but I still don't get the take off others are getting with much less HP.
I have tried different gearing from: 13-40, 13-42, 14-42, 12-42, and 12-41
I am currently using the 12-41 which seems to be the best and I don't run far enough to worry about top end.
Thanks for any Info you can share!

To start, I think your using more paddle then alot of the Rap owners out here are using, you are me.
Just to give you an idea of what I use.
I currently run the 22x11x10 10-paddle Extremes with a +2 swingarm. I use a +2 because I do like to "play" around on an occasional MX track and we have some decent trails to ride as well. Going more then +2 will effect my other riding areas, so?
During my last "flat" sand drags running 300', I was doing 2nd gear WOT throttle starts with (stock gearing) 13/40. The front end was wanting to go skyward, but I was getting enough spin keeping the front end from being too light and she was launching hard.
IMO, if you aren't getting a hard enough launch because the paddles are hooking up too much maybe your just using too much paddle. OR, have you tried to start in 2nd gear?

It does sound like you're over paddled, with a +6 you should be able to launch with very little wheeling.
If your sure you can pull the 12 paddles try a set of solid struts on the front. When I installed mine it made a huge diffrence in launching as it changed the way the weight transfers. I actually sit over the rear axle (stock length swingarm) when I launch (WOT in 1st) & it comes up much slower than before. Here's a pic of my front struts
I run the 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme Haulers & it hooks great & I don't lose power on the top end.

When you say "Case Out".............describe what you mean.
I am running 20x11x10 Sand Devils with 10 paddles. They are the solid molded tire as well. They worked well for me when it was stock and even better after my Trinity 686 upgrade. I have been considering getting some Skat Trak Extreme Haulers with 9 paddles. I'm just not convinced that I will have see a $220 dollar improvment over what I'm running now. I have the straight paddles and they are pretty deep.
I too think you probably have too many paddles, my 10 like to stand me up as it is...........I can only imagine what 12 would do for me.
