Yes Dale was a big factor in NASCAR's success (especialy for those so called "fans" that only go for the crashes)
But he never was one of my favorites because of his dirty driving.

Yea I know, everyone does an occasional bump & run but it was Dales signature move.

Tony Stewart is a modern day A.J. Foyt. Politicaly incorrect & speaks his mind.
Pit reporters used to crawl all over each other to get the first quote from A.J. when he had a bad day because they knew he was gonna be mad & say somthing.
It's called compeditive (sp) spirit & Tony has it too!!!
I'm mad as he!! when I get beat but by the time I've gone down the return road I'm over it.

Believe me I was as shocked & saddened by Dales death as anyone. You didn't need to be a Dale fan to be hit hard by his death.
Racing is a tough sport & with out a doubt The Intimidator was 1 tough SOB!!! RIP

A few years back AJ Foyt knocked Aire??? around when he came to victory circle claiming he won the race( he really did later) Anyway AJ never let him have the trophy. LOL That was at Texas Motor Speedway

 

Yea he would shove his mechainic out of the way & do it him self!!!
That was real racing by real racers!!!

A.J. was definatly 1 of a kind!!
He's still 1 of my all time favorite drivers.
He isn't 1 of my favorite car owners though!!
I was so p!$$ed at him when he left CART for the F#ck!n IRL!!!
Same with Mike Andretti, I'll cheer for him till his last CART race but I won't care how his team does after he becomes an IRL team owner.

I'm not the only one, you should hear the boos & jeers when Tony "I own Indy so I'm God" George was introduced at the Chili Bowl!!

My first big time race was the 1964 NHRA World finals in Tulsa.
I was only 5 but I can remember the sound of those slingshot dragsters & getting to sit in the Green Monster (one of the first jet dragsters)!!!
I got nitro & speed in my blood at a young age!!
