banshee jetting questions
#1
hey im new to this site and i was wondering if anyone could help me out
i have a 2001 banshee with a UNI filter, FMF fatty pipes, and i just installed the delta force reed cage.
i put in the jet that came with the pipes but i have a low to mid range bog on the bike and i want to just re-jet the whole carb. anyone have any suggestions on what to run?
thanks in advance.
also does the TORS eliminator kit make a difference in the way the bike runs or is it to simply make the bike easier to work on?

I would suggest going a little bigger on the main jet and see what happens. Your slide needle controls the mid range but the mid is also affected somewhat by the main. You'll just have to play a little bit and see what works best for you. You might try pulling the needles up a notch or two and see how that works. Don't get me wrong, just pulling the needles up probably won't cure the whole problem. You will most likely need to go bigger on the mains. If you foul a few plugs in the process it's not a big deal compared to having to rebuild your engine because it was too lean!!! A little rich is always on the safe side.
As far as TORS are concerned, my brother got the TORS elimination kit and he now has a problem with the carb slides sticking. He didn't gain any power by eliminating them, other than the big tops. I would keep them. Not worth the money as far as I'm concerned.
Hope this helps.

What position is you needle jet? Ive been told by more than a few people that V forces actually need less needle jet. How does it run at WFO? If it runs good there, mess with the needle. Try dropping it one notch at a time. Remember, to lean out your needle jet, you need to move the clip UP, to richen move it down. Hope this helps
BTW, what is your altitude? With my FMF's I ran 320's at sea level (a little rich, but like he said, better safe than sorry)

carburetors
At the bottom of the above site (Figure 7) is a graft for troubleshooting different components of the carb. I've found it helpful when trying to figure which components I should be messing with for trouble at different throttle positions.
(You have to kind of wade through the first part of the above site to get to the graft)

just about all my riding is done in Glamis and pismo, so pretty close to sea level.
when i am running wide open the bike pulls real hard but in the low end it bogs and the mid range has a bog in it too.
last weekend i was running through the dunes in glamis and i had to constantly downshift because as soon as the revs dropped a little bit it would bog and lose power.
for those that were out there i was the guy in the burgundy hummer
