Default Which Carb for a 240 Blaster?

Installing a 240 kit this week and would like some help picking a carb.
I was thinking of either a 35mm Mikuni TMX or a 36mm Kiehin PWK.
Please share some pro's and con's for each.

Also if anyone is using a boost bottle - Does it really help?

My application is based on 300' drags.

Thanks.

I know nothing about about those carbs but I do know a boost bottle is to take the flat part out of the power band. The part where the waves harmonize in the carb and mess everything up for a bit. Atleast thats what it does on a banshee, dont know how it would on something with only one clyinder carb because i think a banshee uses the dif waves to cancel out or something. Thats what that pipe between the two carbs is. I could be wrong since that info is from a really long drawn out discussion a bunch of tuners had on a RD board. Correct me if i missunderstood their conversation

In other words the same waves that make power in in your exhaust by pushing air back in and charging the mixture do bad things in the carb and the bottle is suposed to act like a buffer or something like that. Thats my understanding any way. Could be wrong though.

Boost bottles arent supposed to work good
On the carb i dont really know, but i do know that the bigger the carb the more top end power ,and if you drag racing thats probably what you want!

Oldman If I was going to build a blaster for drag which I have thought about doing I would.

First do you have the 240 kit and is it ported yet?

Call CPI or FTZ both have out of the frame drag pipes for the blaster.
Carb if you want to stay on gas look for a used 250 r carb would prob. be your cheapeast route. I would but it on alky with a blaster you need all the power you can get. I suggest calling FTZ and CPI.

At LA dunes there was two blasters there both 240 ported six inch swingarm paddle tires and out of frame drag pipes sound wicked and they ran good to.

240 drag ported on alky drag pipe either FTZ alky carb or 250r carb for gas (FTZ can prob. be switched back and forth) swingarm paddles and lose as much weight as you can on the bike.

I run a 35mm ftz alky carb on mine with a out of frame drag pipe works well
it is 395$ though I may sell mine to you for 300 though if you are interested it has the booster jet (jetting is adjusted by turning a **** to fine tune)

Oldmanracing:

We put a 35mm Keihin PWK Air Striker carb on my son's Blaster. It was not a big bore. We were flattrack/TT racing it.

The 35mm PWK A/S gave a significant increase in hp all across the rpm range. The Blasters are really under carbed in my opinion, with the stock 26mm Mikuni. Our Blaster motor was ported quite extensively, and had no problem at all with the larger carb.

If I were to build a big bore, I would go at least as large as a 36mm, and perhaps even as large as a 38mm Keihin PWK Air Stiker, particularly if I were to use the aftermarket cylinder that is available for the Blaster, since that cylinder should have the capability to flow better than the stock cylinder.

Regards,

Rog

RC350 - When you said ported extensively, did that mean you also had the 2 additional intake ports added.

Can you tell me the difference between a keihin pwk and keihin pwk a/s?

What rpm range are you running?
