I haven't seen you around in awhile, nice to hear from ya.

Thanks for the advice folks. I guess I need something bigger, that can half keep up with my Rappy. Also it won't see any mud and VERY few trails. The scarmbler is looking good to me so far.

Default I need a quad for my better half

We have two Scramblers, I have a 2000 Scrambler 4x4 (my first bike) and that was the first REAL quad that she had ridden since be a kid. I have been VERY happy with it. The Scrambler X is a 2002 that I bought for her, it was a total surprise. The first time I took her to the dunes she was real nervious but she had a blast. The people that we went with took their wives as well and they had trouble getting up the sand hills. They rode a Polaris Trail Blazer 250 and the other one was riding a Honda Rubicon 500 4x4 and they had trouble ALL day. Rhonda just shot right up the hills. The 4x4 is real nice in the sand too. The Scrambler X is only a 2x4 but as she has already said "I don't do mud"!! So it doesn't matter, actually the 2x4 is a lot easier to steer. I just bought her some sand paddles so she will be throwing some roost next year!! ha ha

The Scramblers are nice because all you have to worry about forward or reverse. They have only one brake lever that works on all four wheels at the same time like a car. So you don't have to worry about giving too much front brake or not enough. They are a little wider and very stable machines. I bought her's for $5150 if my memory serves me.

But like somebody said out there, don't get her something just to get by. If you want her to be interested in the sport you need to get her something that she will be proud to ride. Rhonda really enjoys riding this one, she would be miserable on anything less. She likes go fast on the dunes. She kept talking about the other women getting stuck and having to back down the hills and wondering why? I told her they needed more power. Theirs would have made it up but they needed more momentum to make it. All she had to do was nail the throttle and go and she would make it.

Scramblers

Ask any other questions that you like like, but I haven't have to anything other than oil changes and light bulb changes to either of them. Have your wife P.M. my wife and ask her for her point of view.

The scrambler sounds like a great option. We will have to go do some test rides and see what she likes.

Teach her to use the gears and buy her a Z400. That way you will have another cool bike. You might have to talk her into it.

A buddy of mine has a Scrambler 400 his 14 year old daughter rides. It's a bit of a tank but is quick enough to keep up on the trail rides & she can make it up all the dunes at Sahara.

It also makes a good tow truck when some one breaks down on the trail.
The only thing I don't like is the single lever brakes, individual brake controls are easier to control IMO.

Get her a Suzuki Ozark and you will be her hero , she will love it!!!!!! It has more power, ground clearance, supencion travel, and a more sporty ride than anything else in its class. I traded my recon in on mine and I like it much better than the honda and I have always been a honda man.

Ward660....get her a recon. That's what I started on, I still have it and like to get it out once in a while just to goof off. It's SO easy, reliable, fairly light, maneuverable. Actually, the little thing can wheelie until the cows come home....if that's what she's into

And it's got racks to boot!
