Silver Lake Dune Riders

I was reading one of the rags and saw a letter from a guy that went. He says as he was being checked for db level the rangers came and asked to see the vin# and his title. Is this common? Anyway they impounded his DS because he didn't have the title with him. They called the stealership and got everything worked out after two yours, and I guess he got it back.
He also said a guy came up on a CUSTOM banshee and the rangers made him sand off the custom paint so they could read the serial # better. The motor and the frame #s didn't match so they impounded his too.
I know quad teft is on the rise and something needs to be done. Is sand paint off the frame really the answer? Not for me it isn't I'd be HOT. And how many of you carry the title with you when you go riding? I know I don't I have never had a reason too, yet. So does this happen alot or is it a one time thing?

Ive only been there a couple of times but I never saw or heard of anything like that. The most I saw the DNR doin is checking for spark-arrestors with the little stick they put in your exhaust. And since both my machines have stock exhaust they just waved us threw. They were strict on the age my friends 12yr old could not go out on his dirtbike or a quad. But they said if he take the MI saftey course he could ride.

Remember now I am female and know nothing but we have been up there 4 times this year and what I have noticed is if you go on a weekday they don't even check for spark arresters. If you go over Labor Day (like we did) they will check your glove box if you let them. Seems the younger the Ranger the more aggressive they are too. However, if you are female with a tight t-shirt they leave you alone. This is the honest truth. I am not kidding. My riding outfits are Greg's so they are really big on me, I am mistaken for a guy all the time until I take off my helmet, hence the hot pink outfit I am looking for.
