Default Sparkplug check procedure for Raptor? WTF???

I'm having a little trouble checking the sparkplug on my Raptor. This is the way I have been doin it. Lets say I'm checking the mains at wide open in third gear and at this point do I just turn off the run switch or do I turn off the key or does it even matter. At one point I know for sure I was lean and the plug was still black at all throttle positions. Someone please reply to this and give me some advice. You can see my mods below also. Thanks

What altitude are you at? I think you are a little over jetted for a K&N kit.

Default Sparkplug check procedure for Raptor? WTF???

I'm down here in Lafayette, Louisiana, down here in the swamps where everyone has to get around in boats. JJ- I think its safe to say that I am at sea level, So you think I'm a little rich on the mains. What about pilots and clip position, I left that stock. You know I just checked the plug for the hell of it, she is actually running pretty damn good. Im just puzzled about the way the plug looks the same at every throttle position. You know I should be lean at half throttle after I took off the lid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since I have removed the lid and had to increase main sizes why wouldn't I have to go up on pilots and clip position, because there is now a lot more air coming in. Shouldn't I have to match the increase in air? And as for winter, I'll be lucky if we hit freezing temperatures 2 days out of the year.

You need to pull in your clutch and hit the kill switch at the same time.I have about the same set up you do.I had 160/165 in mine and it felt lean on top and that was at 2000 feet.I've went up on the mains but have'nt had a chance to do a good test yet.

You beat me to it sixsixT.

If you don't pull the clutch the engine will still be firing as it decelerates causing a change to the spark plug appearance.

Nuff said on the plug reading.
I'm with BR.....with a stock head, cam & piston, 3 turns on the screws, stock pilots, raise the needles (ie drop the c/clip one spot) and 160/165 mains.
