Glowing heap pipe on Raptor
I have an '02 Yamaha Raptor and I just put on a full Yoshimura Comp exhaust. I am running a Dynojet stage two jet kit with the dynojet needles on the third position from the top, 160/165 main DynoJets, 3 turns out on the mixture screws, K&N filter with two
1 3/4" holes in the lid with the snorkel trimmed. It seems to run fine, good idle, good accel., no hesitation, no popping or backfires. After about 4-6 minutes of idle the head pipe begins to glow. I was wondering if you can give me any insight ar advice on what to do to resolve this? I was thinking maybe moving the needle to maybe the fourth position or trying a larger pilot jet.
Thanks
Kevin

It is normal to have the head pipe a little red, how far up the pipe does it go?? The pilot jets will get rid of the glowing head pipes, but I doubt you need to increase them if you haven't gotten into the engine "YET" ha ha.
As long as the glowing doesn't go past 6" or so you should be fine. Is it just when it's idling?? If it's fine while your riding, I don't think you have a problem. Especially if you are not having a lean backfire or hesitation.
What does your plug look like??
