banshee battery
#1
I was thinking about installing a battery on my 02 shee. There is nothing worse than coming down the hill at night with barely any light. I know of the Ricky Stator kit but I was trying to do this with the stock regulator. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you need the regulator/rectifier and make a bracket to hold the battery somewhere. My batt tray is under the rear seat, made of aluminum sheet. The stator in your bike now makes electricity, then passes through the regulator and is stored in the battery. Its simple really, my biggest suggestion is to run a gel cell battery and skip the lead acid like RS provides in the kit. Gel will not spill in your eyes when you crash!

I put a battery on my banshee for the purpose of lighting a shift light and soon will be operating N2O selinoids. I bought the 12 volt battery from a local dealer for $14. I am running a Pro-flo intake kit so I have no airbox. I took two aluminum burp tank (radiator reseivor) brackets from James Lucky and put one facing forward and one facing backward. The rear one holds the tank and the front one has the battery sitting on it. I have wire ties going around the battery both vertical and horizontally. You will just have to charge the battery after each ride, but it is simpler and cheaper than a stator/rectifier kit. If you wire it in the lighting circuit (which holds the voltage at 12V above 3500rpm) it should work fine.
