Default Raptor Hot Cam Info.

After reading this morning that some people are having decompression pin problems and sufferring engine damage, I E-mailed Hot cams and here is the word:

"Hi Gary,You have an old style (read "before update", sold after Sept 7, 2002) camshaft, and it will remain fine. On the end of the camshaft there is a stamping that will have a number "11" and the letters "DHT", that means you have an old style camshaft and it will be a good one. The letters "HHT" mean the newer style camshaft where we tightened up the internal tolerances of the camshaft and raised the oil pressure inside the camshaft to high, and this is what caused our now infamous problem. Had we left it like Yamaha's sloppy fit (as in the DHT camshaft run) we would have been OK. Sorry for any concern that this may have caused you.

THis cam was purchased on 08/06/02. So, again, the old style cams (SOLD BEFORE 09/07/02) designated "dht" will remain fine and the newer cams designed for increased oil flow designated "hht" will apparantly need the new decompression pin.

Use the pin! Its hardened. Thanks guys for all the help! Just got off the phone with Hotcams. Unfortunatley I didnt see the pin till finished but will install tonight. They send the pin but DO NOT say to use in their instructions. Be careful guys!
