Griz Water Questions!
#1
Looking @ purchasing a 03 Griz. I do alot of water riding. How deep of water can you ride through before the belt starts to slip? Does this strand you in the water or can you continue? Does the snorkle kit eliminate the problem? Any other mods.?

The front belt case vent is located under the front rack....dead center. The rear vent is located at top of left rear fender to the left and slightly above the brakelamp. It sucks sometimes, but that's what the draing plug is for. No biggy. I haven't done the snorkle job on mine yet. Everytime I flood my case, it seems to pull fair enough to get you out, but not at higher rpm's untill you drain it. Gonna have to be pretty deep to get in there, but I can say I've drank my share of water last week LOL!

10-4 NC660 Mudder, Thanx for the info! Still looking for the Wetlands Camo Griz. We hunt down east alot, and usually ride through impoundments which hold water knee deep or better. I can understand taking water into the case if you sink under the fenders, but was real concerned about levels under the seat, causing the belt to slip. Where do you guy's ride?

Alot of the bikes I've seen have some nice snorkles made up. How big is teh vent hose/pipe on an '03 Grizz? Sometimes you can get a check valve that will let air pass in/out, but not let water back in for 4wd drive trucks. Becareful of the belt cover seals too. If you crack the cover or don't install the seal properly it will leak and get wet. Happened to a buddies Polairs a little while ago.

Crash,
We ride all over the state. We like to play mostly in swampy areas. Our weekend rides are usually at Croatan Ntl Forest in New Bern, Urarrwie(rocks and hills), or Brown Mtn(self explanitory). The Croatan a huge peat bog and plenty of places to test the machine as well as alot of scenery to soak up. You can rack up 75 -100 miles in a matter of hours! We have tons of trails from Raleigh to the coast. I live about 45 miles east of Raleigh, so I'm blessed with swampland

You can see some pics of my snorkle job on my Grizz at my websites.
The stock pipes are 3" coming out of the housing. You can go to Home Depot and get some reducers and use 1.5" flex pvc piping and do it up.
Take a look and see what you think.
