How good are DMC pipes for the Banshee? Do they add more power then say Toomey pipes or FMF pipes? anyone have any experience with DMC.. my friend has DMC pipes on his shee and he swears that they make the most power, period!

thanks

I have been researching Banshee pipes for about 5 months now, and as far as I know the DMC is a very smooth mid-end pipe. DMC claims they make 14hp when jetted correctly. I think Toomeys make 17hp or something (I'm not sure, I could be wrong on that). I think they do make more power than the FMF's. But the Toomeys and the DMC's are two different kind of pipes. The Toomeys have a hard hitting top-end and the DMC's have a smooth, but extremely powerful, mid-end. I believe the new Thunder inframe drag pipes are the most powerful inframe pipes that are available.
I'm also thinking of buying DMC's to eliminate the 'Banshee-hit' (I recently got my Shee street legal , since I ride 90% streets now, I need a smooth pipe).

Recently I found a topic in the old BansheeHQ forums, where they were telling the TR6 would come within a 2 or 3 weeks. That topic was over a year old! I wouldn't hold my breath for them.

Those HP increases aren't generally at peak vs peak HP. The are usually the part of the dyno curve where there is the greatest difference between stock and aftermarket pipes.

BTW, NO pipe gives increases EVERYWHERE.

I cant really comment on the DMC, as I have only seen them on one and they were the older style with the single silencer in the middle. Anyway, I have the T5's and really like them, I love the sound, and the pipes look and fit great.

I felt a nice power improvement, but as wyo said above the increase is really in the mid range, with a few on top.

The T6 pipe has been talked about for well over a year now and it appears they are still not available. Last I talked with toomey they said around thanksgiving, but apparently that did not happen. I was emailed a graph of the t6 versus the cpi inframe pipes, and the toomey appeared to fall off much earlier then the cpi, and of course the graph really only showed the part where toomey made more power.

If I were doing it over again, I would buy the toomey most likely.

Well, here is my opinion:

Toomey racing has played with the RD/RZ/Banshee engine since it was first produced. The T-3's make great power, but aren't "rider friendly". The T'4's are a little smoother and the T-5's seem to be the best yet for the general rider. The T-6 should be even better. Toomey and Pro-circuit pipes have the best sound. I have PC's on my play banshee and love them. Pro-circuit is the king of MX dirtbike pipes. So here you have two companies that have played with these engines for years. I just heard of DMC about a year ago, I think their pipes are ugly, and I don't know what they will sound like.

As for when the T-6 will be released: I called Toomey about a month ago and told them I was looking to upgrade the T-3's on my race banshee with new pipes for next season. I asked if they were going to be released in time or should I just buy T-5's and use them for tuning. I was told that the pipes were probably not going to be out in time for tuning next March.
