I talked to a dynojet tech and I guess he didn't know what he was talkin bout.......
cuz he told me to do it one step lower than the sheet (mains)......he said it was wrong.......
I did it like the sheet said and it is perfect.......
he also said not to change the pilots......
my mods are listed below......and I am at about 600'
I am fixing to add a sparks X-6
what pilots should I be running?

BigScary,

You say you are running dyno jets and needles with main jet sizes of 146/148? With an 11:1 stock bore piston/Hotcam stage 1 and port job? This sounds BigScary lean to me. The 146/148 below 3000' is for a pipe kit and air box mod. You've added compression and and added a performance cam along with cleaning the ports to increase flow. My guess is you need to be at 160/165 or 165/170 for 600' elevation.

Any kind of race gas is going to clean things up and you won't get a good plug reading from it. My exhuast tip always cleans up when I run Ulitmate 4 or other type VP fuels. Normaly have the brownish to dark brownish disks then one ride with the ultimate 4 and they are a light gray or grayish color. I may be jetted rich at the 170/175 dyno jet mains I use but I feel more comfortable on the rich side than I do on the lean side. I obviously can't know for sure but 146/148 with your mods has got to be lean and it will run stronger lean, for a while.
