My Wolverine's pipe is getting cherry red. Is this normal? I dont think it should be getting this hot. Anyone have any ideas?

What are you doing when it turns cherry red? Mine has done it when I left it choked to warm up for about 15 min in a high idle. It also did it this weekend while I was playing in the snow because I was high in the revs blasting threw drifts.

How long was it running? And was it at a high idle? If it was choked and idling high mine has done it also. I just pushed the choke in and it idled down and turned back to a normal color. This might sound like an odd question but were you in the dark when you noticed it?

The reason I asked if it was dark, is because both times I noticed mine was red it was in the early morning before the sun came up and in the evening. I just figured it was like that any other time I just never notice because it was sunny out and it didn't really show up. It might be running a little lean and getting hot. But I don't know enough to help you with that. I am carburetor stupid

I would say jcsact is probably right in that your jetting is lean and its making it run too hot. Ive never had that problem but thats probably what it is.
