Raptor not running right, please help...
#11
On my raptor I can't go much past a high idle with the p.brake on, with the choke on it hits the limiter when it's warming up and starts to idle faster.

Yeah I agree with the parking brake theory. Just off idle is where it kicks in, it will backfire and fuss like something is seriously wrong other than idle. I have seen it on yamaha's for alot - warriors, wolverines and all have the same thing.
I had my brother-in-laws wolverine carb apart 4 times along a trail then someone came along and told us to check the ebrake.

Ok, cool, I'll check it out and let you know what happens. It definately starts backfiring, etc. almost immediately off of idle, so it sounds like that could be it.

That was it!!!! Problem fixed!!! Thanks guys... it runs great! Now I just need to figure out why the shifter will shift into reverse by just lifting up on it. Anyone have a picture of their shifter installed on the engine? Mine wasn't. Maybe it's ok, I'll find out when I get the chain on and go for a spin.

The only way its possible is if the linkage peice on the shifter rod is mounted upside down then shifting would be backwards. Check and make sure the bolt that tightens it on the rod is in from the top and not the bottom. But then for it to go into reverse without the use of the reverse **** means your reverse cable is too tight. Make sure the cable is seated in the hold on the frame and not held up.

Oops, my linkage piece that bolts to the shift rod is definately upside down. The bolt goes through on the bottom. I'll swap that over and check the reverse cable as well.
