Raptor Ball Joint Question
#1
I recently painted my stock a-arms when rust set in after six months. Probably didn't help that after my last crash I broke my wrist thus leaving mud to sit on the beast for a few months. Anyways, I removed the hub assembly from the a-arms to paint them. I am now attempting to put the hub assembly back on but have run into a snag. The ball joint nut will not tighten any further, pulling the hub back into line like I would have hoped. Instead the ball joint is spinning with the nut. I have the shock on and nothing else yet. I have checked and did not find a flat spot on the ball joint to hold still with a wrench. Really in a pickle here, if anyone has had the same problem with a successful conclusion or any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Sometimes you can use a c-clamp to squeeze the tapered stud into the spindle. One end of the clamp goes on the outside of the a-arm/ball joint and the other on the spindle. Snug it up to force the two together - same effect as what RAptorjay mentioned above but maybe tighter.

Yeah, the C-clamp sounds like a good idea. I can't put the quad on the ground because the tires aren't on because of my current problem. Hopefully it works. Thanks a bunch guys.

I have done exactly what fisher is describing, it worked great for me on my warrior which it the exact same setup pretty much. Once the tapered end starts getting pulled into the hub it will resist turning more and more.
