Best ATV Manufacturer?

Normally I wouldn't post a reply to a topic like this. The truth is that they are all good and its mainly a matter of personal preferance. Discussions about which is best tend to get silly, and usually get nasty. I like Hondas but I'm just happy to have others to ride with.
However, since this was posted in the Yamaha forum I felt that it was necessary to comment.
First of all most of my friends have Yamahas and I have ridden most of them. They are nice bikes and I understand why people would buy them.
Now back to my statement that I just like to have others to ride with. My buddy has now been waiting for 4 1/2 months for a ball joint for his Yamaha Big Bear! He took it to the shop on December 4, 1999. The dealer told him that it was back-ordered. He got tired of waiting and called Yamaha. It takes several hours to get through and he has now been promised that it was shipped several times. Starting about 2 months ago when they told him it was on its way, red label- shipped overnight. It has still never arrived. I have posted the question as to whether this was normal length of time to wait for parts. I didn't get any replies.
Now that the question has been asked as to what quad is the best, I'd say that the Yamaha may be as good as the others, but then again, its hard to tell when you are waiting for parts and your bike is in the shop.
He broke the balljoint with less than thirty miles on it. It was his fault, no defects. But he has now made 5 payments on it without being able to ride it. Yamaha has promised that they will give him the 6 month warranty back. Thats nice, but its hard to ride a warranty. We are going riding again this weekend without him.

I HAVE TO AGREE FULLY WITH GALT.. I RIDE A BANSHEE, BUT I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS. IT IS ALL WHAT YOU LIKE, AND WHAT TYPE OF RIDING YOU DO.... AND EVERY MANUFACTURER HAS HAD THE SAME TYPE OF MISHAPS AS THE NEXT.

I was always partial to Honda, They were the Pioneers in my mind. Then I bought a 91' Blaster, with the exception of the crappy brakes, it was great. Now I own a 99' Wolv. and love it...
Had a couple Honda's, and had no problems with them, they just didn't build what I was looking for the last (2) times I was buying....
Honda has always been at the top as far as quality goes, just a perception out there. I think Yamaha is just as reliable, with the exception of the WOLVERINES AXLE!!!! Yes!!!!!! I'm still ticked about that situation!!!!!!
Nuff Said.

Is there really a best manufacturer?I think all of them are pretty good today.I picked my two Polaris quads [99 500cc Sportsman 4x4 and 00 Xplorer 400cc Xplorer] because it had more options on it that I personally liked.
Some options seem important to one quad owner will seem less important to another.
Dealership mechanics should play a very large role when selecting any brand quad.It dont matter what brand you buy if the mechanic dont fix it right.===BILL

in my mind there is only one TURE sport/utility....the wolverine. so yamaha builds the best sport/ute by default. i have seen no other quad that quite fits this niche besides it. the rancher is not a sport/ute in my mind because it wasn't built for that. it is a utility that happens to be quite spory.
i feel honda makes the best quads. polaris is second followed by yamaha.
[red]this is only an opinion, my opinion, and thats all that counts for me[/red]
