I broke a bolt off from my head pipe during a nast spill. I took the bike to the local shop to get it out of the head. I went to pick up the bike and found out they broke a easy-out where the bolt once was. They are going to need to take head apart and obviously will foot the bill. They stated that while they had the head apart if I wanted to upgrade the piston and cam I wouldn't get charged labor. Only parts. They said a 13:1 piston would be a wise choice???? I am new to this and don't know what the piston and cam would do for me????

I wouldn't go beyond 11.5 to 1 compression and no higher 12.1 since I think you will need to use race gas like 50/50.

So the motor can last long. and for the cam you could use stage 1 or 2 depending what kind of riding you do.

Do a search and you will find peoples have done lot of different combo for piston and cam..... Good luck....

While you have them in there I would definitely have them put 8mm exhuast studs from a grizzly in it. The flanges on the exhaust may need drilled to but you will never have anymore exhaust stud problems

My friend chimmer had an ordeal like yours, only we had to do his twice, once with the stocker stud which we had to take the head off for and once more after another broke on the first ride after that, then we put the 8mm studs in, 11:1 and stage 1 hotcam. No problems since and he likes the 11:1 and hotcam

The stock 6mm studs suck, I have torqued more than a few exhaust studs wrenching on other quads and never had a problem till then.

Thanx for the info. I know the stock is a 9:2:1(I think), and as far as performance, what would the 11:1 do for me. In regards to torque and HP? And how would the motor rev. What is the difference between a stage 1 or 2 hot cam?
