Straight Pipe?
#12
The only straight pipe I ever had was on my 1971 SL100. I was 15 and wanted some noise and a straight pipe severed my purpose. Maybe it was the straight pipes fault that I threw the timing chain and ruined the motor. That Honda would easily scream up to its posted 11,000 rpm limit and now I know it was the pipe that allowed it to go past the red line and the timing chain could simply not keep up.
Also when you needed to go through an area where you didn't want noise it had on the end of the pipe a **** that you turned a disk on the end of the pipe to restrict the opening to about 1/2 inch.
It made it sound like it had bubble farts, so it wasn't closed to much.

Jakal you shouldnt have a problem with it. My Graydon is almost straight thru also. DG would have sold so many of them if they burnt everyones valves.. As stated a short pipe is where you have problems, a full system is good even if straight thru. You are just sacrificing some low end, which with your new engine shouldnt be a problem.. L8tr Steven

you know what, im an idiot. i dont know why i never thought about this. the only reason that it ran like crap when he put the straight pipe on, was because he didnt rejet it. i never even gave it the thought!
