I heard something about that too. Can't remember where I seen or heard it, but I have 2 Jet-ski 1100SX's and I know theres some places I can"t ride 'em because "tree-huggers" say that the exhaust is polluting lake and river waters. So it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to ban 2-strokes, they'll try to use some lame excuse like 2-strokes are choking tumbleweeds or sand mites are becoming extinct because they can't live trying to breathe 2-stroke exhaust. Best thing we can do as riders is stick together and let the "weasels" know that just because they have boring lives and have never ridin', that they shouldn't try to tell others how to enjoy there free time. God Bless America and Amen....LOL

Ban 2 strokes? Could you imagin sitting by the campfire a beautifull glamis night and not hearing the screaming 2 strokes in the distance? They cant just BAN 2 strokes.
Just like they couldnt just BAN 3 wheelers. They might stop producing them, but they wont be illegal to ride.

They are not banning two strokes, but that is when the new epa emissions standards go into effect. Of course like most things within the government that may or may not happen. But that is when they are slated to go into effect.

What that means for two strokes is they either need to clean up, or they cannot be built starting in that model year. A clean two stroke can be built, they question is will the companies put the money into it for atv's and motorcycles. I doubt that they will, so most likely come 2006 all quads, motorcycles, and snowmobiles will be 4 strokes.

Just my opinions on what I have read, but that is what it sounds like to me.

And I cannot imagine life in the dunes without a two stroke.

Yeah, the aftermarket will not be hurt by this. The banshee after market is huge and it will take many years for it to start slacking off. As more two strokes get replaced with 4's then it might become harder to find parts, but we are talking many years down the road.

I dont know if companies that build special race machines would be hurt by this. I am talking companies that build one off machines say with 500R engines or something of the like.

But you will still be able to purchase parts for probably the next 20-30 years.

Batoutahell hit it Dead on the nail. It's the new EPA laws that will be the Death of any new 2 Strokes being produced after 2006. Keep your eyes on California, that is where it will all begin. Where California goes, so goes the Nation.

P.S. Not trying to Bash CA, so no Flames Please.

I must disagree. If Cali. goes it does not mean the nation will. I mean, here in KS we could careless about emissions and such. (just as long as it does not blow too much smoke)

A Majority of the Emission laws on the books originated in CA. I live in a County in Washington that doesn't have strick Emission laws, due to our population. However the Counties to both sides of mine have strict Emissions testing for motorized vehicles because of their larger population.

Smoke (Emissions) is exactly the issue, and that is what will hurt the 2 Strokes. Unless the manufacturers do something to clean them up.

I find it hard to believe that the Major populated Cities & Counties in your neck of the woods have NO Emission Standards what so ever.
