how's this price on the griz?

after beating my head against the wall trying to find what atv i wanted to buy this time.....i think i might spring for the griz. the best i can do is 6550 OTD on an 03 grizzly. i like the sportsman 500 but the darn thing is 700 pounds...thats ridiculous! the 500 would be 6200 OTD. i also like the vinson 500 auto but the best i could do on that is 6309 OTD. so, for a couple hundred bucks extra i think the griz is my choice at a great price. anyone heard of anything under 6550 OTD?

Anything below $6600 is a good price i have a 02' and have had 0 problems with mine, most problems are there own related problems,i do my own work but i have experience with them and all my friends do also, i make sure of somthing before doing it ="STOP RELATED""Shade-Tree Operator Problem related",,jetting, exhaust, valve adjustments and some "stimey scamming dealers and salesmen"make things worse=mountain out of a molehill a-lot of riders bust there competitors brand "yam" when they really RIDE another,i have owned other brands,HONDA,KAW and they all have there quirks that different riders don't like i go by,price, specs, features, dealer perks=bang for buck ratio.read,ride,choose,pay.

I just cast see paying that much for a quad when you could buy a well running jeep for 4,500 and put another 2,000 in it. You would basicly have a much more capable machine, and the same cost. IMO

Hmm, this is off topic, but I'll take the quad. Gets better gas mileage; fits in a heck of a lot more trails than a big 'ole Jeep®; I really don't care if I scratch it up; I don't have to pay insurance on a quad; upgrade parts are cheaper than for the Jeep®; I can ride wheelies; can go up a lot steeper hills; no roof or roll bars to bump my head on; If something goes wrong with the engine, I only have 1 cylinder to deal with; comes factory with a locking front diff and a solid (figuratively speaking) axle in the back; Much better and more fun ride on the quad; Do I need to go on?? I've had both big trucks and quads, and I'll take a quad first any day for offroad fun.

You dont have to pay insureance on a jeep if ya dont want to.. but it is just as street legal as a quad then. true about the other aspects, and the rubicon comes with two lockers That was just my opinion.

Now i do know I am in a Yami forum but here goes...
Pending on how you ride and what features you deem most important...say the independent suspension is not a big issue...You ought to take a look at the Kawi 650...good 4x4 quad with a great sporty feel but w/o independent susp. Now the Griz is a solid quad dont get me wrong...and this isnt the Kawi is better response. It is just that when i went looking I was totally sold on a griz too. After shopping extensively in the fall of 02 i couldnt get a Griz for under 6900 (did not include tax). So one dealer told me about the kawi being a monster of a quad so i gave it a run and walked out the door with it for 6200 (plus tax - sometimes when people say out the door i dont know if they mean tax or not). Now i had the money for either...its just that i thought the kawi was just as good for $700 bucks less. My point being...in the utah region anyway...you can get a far better deal on the kawi...and again...pending the riding the Kawi is just as solid as the griz with the performance. Thats just my experience and didnt know if you gave the kawi a look or not. To be honest I am very greatful for how my luck turned out...I am not overly fond of the independent and the kawi truly fits my riding style...it is a great machine for hill climbs or off-camber riding...i havent looked back with regret one time since getting on that v-twin . They are both great machines...its a great time in the industry...but overall better deal and value i believe lies with the Kawi ...here anyway. Good luck shopping...but go with the v-twin or the griz rather then the others you mentioned...you will appreciate the quads far more despite the little extra you might have to pay.

ATVDEP, I would have to say that $6550.00 you paid is a great price for an 03 Griz. I got mine around the end of Nov. and paid $6871.00 otd. This was the best price I could find here in NE Ohio. I really like my Griz and haven't had one problem yet. The best part of this quad is the plush ride, room and the power. If you think the Griz is too big you get use to the size very quickly. I will say that the fan runs too much even in the winter. I took care of that with a side panel mod and some Red Line Water Wetter. I hope you have great luck with your new Griz.
