Default Battery or compression release?

Has any one had problem with starting when you have no compression release in the raptor? I just did away with the comp. release on mine when I installed the cam. Now It won't start very easy but I have a weak battery. Charged it and works O.K. but not great Any Help or comment would be cool!!!!!
