blaster carb jeting

I hope the mix your friend suggested was a mis-print... 10 to one?
I've never felt comfortable with the oil injection devices. I always blocked them off on any bike I had & ran pre-mix. Then I knew exactly what mix I had & when I ran out of oil I also was out of gas, so no seizing of the engine.

Tell that friend that he is nuts! 10:1 do you know how thick that is? The injector mixes 20:1 and that is thick. If anything the motor will actually be richer(run cooler) on the hot days because of the air density. That is why in cold weather you have to jet up because the engine will lean out do to less dense air. If you add more oil you are causing your motor to get less gas making it run hotter. The gas cools and the oil lubricates. Some people mix the expensive oils 50:1.

so what you are telling me is that it wont hurt or seize my engine and i cant take off the injector because it is still under warrnty
and the 10:1 is would be for 2.5 gallons of gas but that is with 5 gallons of gas

removing the the blaster injector will not void your warranty head mods will. mix between 28:1 to 36:1 when you add on a 35 mm mikuni carb you have to remove it and it should not void waranty. check with your dealer.

When i bought my blaster new I also bought on all the bolt on mods that yamaha said would not effect the warranty, the 35mm mikuni was one of them and you have to remove the injector. My blaster is still warrentied. sorry bout that.

if you are still using the oil injector and the stock carb, the oil never goes through the main jet, so it makes no difference on the jetting. it is piped into the carb in front of the main jet. a mechanic at a local shop told me that if that ole reliable oil pump had never been invented he would be out of a job.

I learned the hard way on this one..
I had a '90 Blaster, had it ported, new bearings/bottom end, new bore job, new wiseco- on the first trip to the dunes it locked up because a stick (or something else, who knows) gnawed up the nice little oil injection hose. Fried my nice running little Blaster quick. Dismantle the pump (either by buying a blockoff plate kit or removing the gear from the shaft) and premix your fuel. That way you ALWAYS know it's mixed and you're engine is getting the precious oil it thrives on. Using a good grade of oil (I use Bel-Ray H1R), mix 12 oz. to 3 gallons of gasoline. That's 32:1 and works very well in most applications.
