Outofcontrol is right. To much oil will do more damage than good.
I have owned many sleds, bikes etc. and I use the same break in procedure for everything. Hammer the **** out of it. I read in a snowmobiling magazine many years ago that if you want them to go fast then breakum in fast. It seems to work for me." You do it the way you think is fit ".

Damn spacollie, are we on the same page or what? I have been building motors for years(cars, trucks, dune buggys) People cant believe it when I smoke the tires right off the bat. If its going to blow let it blow at the shop not 100 miles away. I was taught by an ex drag racer to break it in as you are going to drive it. Besides the preasure in the combustion chamber helps seat the ring even better.

I have used that motto for years. And yes I think the same way... If its gonna blow do it now close to home or while its still under warranty. Believe it or not but I have had stock sleds which I pulled out of the back of my truck, zero kms, and held them pinned wide open back and forth this river close to my house for atleast 20 miles, that could eat bigger sleds and had never had no problems. Its a funny way of doing things but it works.

I used to work with a guy who built nhra motors and he said that after building them, they would put them on the dyno and full throttle. He said if there going to fly apart then they where built wrong.
HAMMER DOWN.
HAMMER DOWN.
