Do the old units have a tach or is that something coming with the new models?

There is no tach with these computers. The only wire it has is one that extends to the front tire brake shield and senses the rotation of a magnet installed on the brake rotor and calculates speed and distance based on wheel size. I understand Yamaha has a tach but it would need to be installed seperately.
