i have a 01 raptor. when you try to start sometimes it engages sometimes it doesn't. at times it will engage then disengage then engage again. it will do this multiple times. sometimes the starter will spin but the engine is not turning over. i checked the starter and it is working fine. i believe it is a one way clutch design that connects the starter to the crankshaft. has anybody seen one of these fail?

No prob...glad you found it...

 

Don't ride until it's fixed....the 1-way bearing spring is toast and floating around in your oil. keep us posted.....most of us Raptor owners had been through this and should be of some help.
