It seemed to me for the longest time that porting was a very small feature for me. I thought that it was very common mod for a new banshee owner to add this to your very expensive list that you so dearly wanted, so when you drag your frinds you can take them by surprise and whoop major ***.

So here I am stuck with no money and a half-year-old 2003 banshee and a blown crank seal. My dad doesn’t have very much time lately and has been sick so we cant just take it apart in a day and put it back together. It will be apart for a while if we don’t choose the right time to do so it doesn’t get left apart for a half of a year (like my 250x that’s almost finished from when I seized it last year) that’s how I got my banshee)). This time i am going to do it right and get it all done right.

I wanted pipes from the first second I got my banshee, 500$ is too much.
To tell you the truth this sport is the biggest money sucker ever.

I am preparing myself for some money saving. So these are my plans.....................

My first mod will be to pipe it I am really thinking about the fmf SST 's. I was talking to my shops mechanic about them and he said that all of the best bikes he has built had the SST pipes on it
There are other great pipes out there but I am looking at pipes that are usually best for more of a built quad and not just the most bolt on power at one time, like for instance I hear that the pro-circuit, is one of best pipes you can put on at first, rather than buying pipes and adding more performance parts that will keep pumping the juice

I want a good air filter rather than something that i am going to keep replacing>this will probably be a last minute choice. What do you run and how has it been?

I know that porting will make it heat up quicker so I was thinking about getting one of those cool heads. I really don’t know much about cool heads so please help me out!!

Does pro design make a good head? Is around 270$ a cheap head or is that the average price?

Getting ready for the port:

Instead of bringing my whole bike to have it ported y don’t I just bring them my cylinder, I hear it would be a lot cheaper to do!

I found this advertisement in Atv-action and it was for some company called 4 wheel thunder. =

Heres the ports and prices
Banshee cylinder porting

Porting gas alcohol cost
Mach 1 60-65hp 65-70hp $350
Mach 2 65-70hp 70-75hp $475
Mach 3 70-75hp 75-80hp $575
Mach 4 80-85hp 85-92hp $675

Visit them at

Is this excessive hp or is it normal?

Next I hear that you need high compression piston & rings
What r the price on these and what’s the best kind?

How is reliability?

With out buying everything at once and still porting what’s the best way to go?

Thanks for reading
Please correct me on anything that sounds wrong
