Small toy hauler or travel trailer??

14,
How old is your kid? I ride with both my sons and prefer it that way. I love to watch them carve up the dunes. The wifey I could leave at home but, the kids are a done deal. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I have the Ragn 21g, I love it, it sleeps 6 has everything you need including the pumping station. It does have the canvas tip-out in the front, you don't have to use it if you don't want, there are two beds in the back. I have had two sand pigs in it.

wsrdskn- the kiddo is 11. I hope to buy him a 250ex at action this week. I have his lt80 for sale. He has been to the dunes a few times. He is just about ready to go with me full time. His lt80 was not that good in the open dunes after lots of mods. I looked a few toy haulers today and nothing flipped my switch for 15k today.

Toy Haulers are expensive. I'm going to trade in my TT for one as soon as I can afford it. The toy haulers don't have many niceties inside for how much they cost thats for sure. The weekend warriors seem to be the nicest but also the most expensive from my look sees. The funrunners seem to be better built than most and are not as expensive either. But they are the most basic unless you upgrade then they are not cheap but still less expensive than most.
Get him a Raptor. He's learned on the smaller quads, Just bypass the middle ground and save some spendolies. (Depending on where he's at in the learning curve) My boys are 12 and 13 and ride the snot out of my Raptors. If I'm getting beat on the hills by a couple bike lengths or so i put my youngest on there and tell him to go get that guy.
People crap there pants when they get smoked by him. It's a kick. My youngest actualy rides the dunes better than I do. I'm amazed at how well he traverses the dunes sometimes. He's gone over razorbacks that I didn't, I went around and met up with the group. LOL That has happened once, just this last weekend.

I would go with a toy hauler over a TT. Have you seen the optoinal sceened in sections that you can zip in on the rear door opening? Or you can turn the ramp area into a porch. That's kinda cool. But I think the ultimate rig would be a small 5th wheel with a small enclosed trailer behind it for the quads. That's what I'm talkin about. As long as you never need to back up.

I agree with the toy haulers....I have 25' Tahoe Transport. Theres nothing like loading the trailer the day before leaving, getting off of work the next day and hooking straight up and going..no loading after working all day. Plus its nice if you want to go 4 byin' for the day. Lock the toys in the trailer, get a tongue lock, and leave it for the day. And , of course, taking a shower after a long day of riding is the sh*t!!! Good luck.

14mins. I bring LOTS of beer on trips (cheap) and when people are not looking... I crap in MichaelAZ's trailer (he dumps it) lol, shower with Jeff's ouside shower (I bring extra 7 gallon water jugs) and pass out in my $20 chair by the fire pit. I saved $15,000

Toyhaulers are expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Look closely at the funrunners, I did and was not real impressed. They will do the job, but there are things I did not like. Like the roof being about a dozen peices glued together. I much prefer a one piece roof, especially if you ever end up in a rain storm.
I thought the quality of the funrunner was not very good. But again I am sure they will do the job.
I looked at just about every toyhauler built, except for the ragen and I am sure there were a couple of brands I missed. I bought a desert fox, because I can fit 4 fullsize quads in it, I have a front bedroom for privacy, I got a pretty good price and it is very nice.
My decision came down to the warrior or the desert fox. My nearest warrior dealer is 3 hours away and does not want to deal. I talked with giant rv in california and they had a better price (still not as good as the desert fox) but what if I need service??
I have a local desert fox dealer, I talked with several people that have them and none had a bad thing to say.
Sorry to ramble, I suggest getting up on the roof and see how sturdy it feels. These things have to be pretty well constructed to handle having quads, or sand rails put inside them and hauled for thousands of miles.
rambling again..............

My better built statement refered to what was inside. Some that I looked at, the overhead beds weren't easy at all to pull down. The rear door (ramp) was a joke, the cabinets were very cheaply made. I'll have to look at the roofs next go round. I assumed all had the one piece rubber roofs now a days. Thanks bat.
