How hard is it to change reeds?
My RD is running like crap even though ive cleaned out the carbs and set them back to factory specs. So, I figured maybe the 30 year old reeds were my problem (only 7k miles on em, but dont they age or something?). The motor is essentially the same as a banshee engine, how hard is it to change them on there?

Pretty easy. Pull the carbs then the 4 bolts that hold the intakes on. Take the intakes and reed cages out. There are 4 screws in each cage (two per reed). Take those out and the metal stopper and the reed will come off. If you use performance reeds such as boyesen, you won't use the stopper. Make sure you use some thread sealant to hold those little screws in so they don't come loose and go through the engine. Put them back in and make sure you have some new intake gaskets.

hey use mechanic in a can, or gasket in a tube. most new cars are put together with this stuff new. oh, and dont throw yer threadlocker in the toolbox. mine leaked onto a really expensive cescent wrench and it is now one piece....any way to revers that crap?
