I'm glad you have your bike running well. However, I'm guessing that others with a 686 are running a fatter jetting with an open airbox. The only reason why I would suggest openning the airbox is to get more air! I believe your bike will handle it and will see additional performance gains.

I'm sure you already know this but if you open the airbox, you HAVE to rejet. In my opinion, you just reduced the amount of air in order to not run lean. I simply believe that your 686 is not running at its full potential.

By the way, which 686 kit did you get?

Wow..either you live on top of a mountain...or your jetting is WAY lean. I ran 160/165 with a webcam 696/697, pro flow, and a full yoshi.
