I just purchased a 2000 Blaster in the first part of March and I was having a difficult time getting my Blaster to crank last week, so I
decided to purchase a new plug. I still am having the same problem, the Machine is not cranking right off I have to kick 15-20 minutes to finally to get it too fire. It looks like I may have to take the machine back to the dealer. The Weather here in Georgia is fairly warm right now. I have tried choking it mid and full, but with the same result anyone have any ideas.................Thanks....

Here is what I do. First set the choke to full (all the way out)and kick the motor once without touching the throttle. Then hold the throttle all the way in and kick it over. It should start if not repeat the procedure.

Have you checked the compression yet? I would not ride it until you have least done that. It should be around 126psi stock. If it is low then that is your trouble. When it is running do you here any noise other than the counter balancer knocking?

I have found out that it is best to figure out what is wrong if you can before going to the dealer. They will usually try to blame the problem on something you did or didn't do. If you know the problem and they know you know the problem then they will be less likely to mess with you. Don't anybody get mad that is just what my dealer tries to pull all the time.

Your pilot jet may be to lean. Try giving it a few kicks with ignition turned off choke on. This will put extra fuel in the cylinder. Then turn ignition on and try again.

Yeah the gas is turned on, I have tried a lot trouble shoot methods engine off, full choke, mid choke, no choke etc. , I think I will take it back to the Dealer when they are opened Tuesday. I have had it around a month, I may have to get extended warranty now. I really like the machine, but I hope the problem is minor. I appreciate all the courteous relpies and help......Thanks everyone, I hope my dealer fixes it for me...........

Have you tried to start it with no choke? You mentioned it's fairly warm where you are. When my blaster's (it's a 2000 also) been shut off for a couple hours (meaning it's still kinda warm), I just hold the throttle open about 1/4 and usually starts on the 3rd or 4th kick. Another thing you might want to do is bring it to your dealer first thing in the morning without starting it and see how they start it or if they have problems.

I had a 98 blaster (traded it for a warrior big mistake) any way it started on the first or second kick everytime no matter what (if it had gas) I had it for maybe 2 years and it still has the original plug. and ran great I had it ported and it had a DG silencer. I have a 250r now andI still wish I had the blaster because I'm stuck with a broken warrior I love my 250r though gets more mods by the day. rember ride smart and ride hard!!!!!!!!!!!!
