In Pain With Broken Header bolts.
#1
At Dumont this weekend my header bolts snapped in the head and they need to be lasered out. What would be more economical, fixing and replacing piston with 11:1 JE, Stage 2 hotcam, valve springs, and rod, or look into increasing displacement such as 686, or690? Also, how much should a dealer charge for install of the parts along with lasering the header bolts? Someone please educate me on the 686,690, or ???727.

Well, it happened in 2 stages. I did in fact install the header and 2 months later I wrecked at Dumont and one bolt snapped. I went to get it fixed (tapped) and the dealership broke off the tap, but because I was in a hurry to ride they tightened the one bolt down and high temp siliconed the header to the head and told me everything would be JUST fine until I had the time and $ for the internal engine accessories I wanted because they are going to have to laser the head for free. Afterall, they broke the tap off in the head. Well today running up Comp I droped the clutch the bike felt wierd, lost power, sounded different, I looked down and the header was loose. Going to Glamis in #wks and need to work fast.
