727 or 686?

Hey LowBowtie,
I recently bought my raptor, which had a 686 for stadium racing, with that it was given the holeshot every time. I can give you a few links to some people that know their stuff. http://www.trinityracingproducts.com/perkit.html should give you the info about 727 vs 686 and if that is not enough and you have the loot try
http://www.paatving.com/Articles/tur...urboraptor.asp if you haven't thought about putting on a turbo. I talked to one of the guys at trinityracing, who had a 727 and that turbo, it was said to put out about 90hp. Of course why stop there, when the right people could through in some nitrous and a 5' swingarm. But for all of that cost you could buy an R1 engine and try and stuff it in there. hah...
The bore kits are around $2k and the turbo is around $4.5k each add about 30 hp. So how's your budget?

I'm the one with the Craycraft 730(in the making). The only reason it is costing so much to build is because of the new tranny, FCR's(which are WELL worth the money when compared to the stock carbs) + chrome etc etc I guarantee you it will run like hell...or it will be apart soon after. I don't see how it could not make some monster horsepower..but I'll have to leave the details out..for certain reasons It will be interesting to see how it runs against 14mins 686. Only time will tell.

craycraft they have not done that many at all. i know roberson cycles has some strong running engines also.

I am going to build a 672 instead of the 686, just to be different and other reasons.
After the trip to Kermit next month I am going to tear the engine down and send it to CrayCraft Racing.

Thanks for all the replys all of you have excelent Ideas. Only one question about high comp. piston. Has any one ran one on a stock rod or do you need a carillo? I know I'll be doing the tranny at the same time any ways.(before it blows) So I haven't completely dicided yet. BTW Thanks to everyone for help.

Air, Oh so true about doing it before it goes south. thats kinda why I'm doin the tranny. My main reason for tearing it apart. where is a good place to get one(carillo rod) or can you install it your self when its apart?

I got a 100 dollar bill that says no 727 will out dyno raptorcr's 727 from craycraft on race fuel. Anytakers???? I honestly believe that it will make a minimun of 15HP more than my 686 did at FSWs' and it will make peak power to almost 9ooo rpm.
