i never stated to just buy american. i started by saying i ride a honda right now. what i said is dont complain about the price of an american bike, becouse of its cost. its cost is mainly due to the fact that americans require a better wage than most other nations. so, if you like hogs, then buy one and support your fellow american!

I can tell you, that my 28 year old 76 Superglide is worth more in its present condition than a brand new crotch rocket. You guys that hate on Harley need to face reality. Harley is older than MOST American car companies!!! All of the Japanese companies have bikes that copy Harley in one way or another. What is that? Because they want the following that Harley has!!!! That right there says something. I took a tour of a Harley plant in Milwaulkee. The people there ABSOLUTELY LOVE their job. More than any UAW worker that I have ever met. These bikes are truely hand built by people that take PRIDE in their work. I can tell you that my bike runs like a rapped ape, and the motor has never been apart. What makes you think they dont last long? How many really old Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, ect bikes do you see on the road? Not as many as you see harleys. The newer Harleys dont vibrate much at all. I for one like the feel, sound, and torque that my older bike has. There is nothing like it. When Im riding down the road or stopped in a parking lot, I constantly get people giving me compliments, waving, or just getting a second glace. You cant say the same about those crotch rockets, unless you got one of those retarded furred out crotch rocket. As for "50's technology, air cooled push rod POS motors". Have you ever watched Top Fuel drag racing with motorcycles? The Harleys are actually faster in the 1/4 mile than the crotch rockets that have all the "technology" in them. Dont get me wrong, I like some of the crotch rockets. Especially the Ducati's. But, dont Hate on Harley.

Could be really cool also though but I bet it would be really expensive having the Harl ey name and all. HAHA just think a quad all chopped out like they do with their motorcycles, big ol long front end bout a foot and a half off the ground and handlebars that go over your head.

bbs, when you pay as much as a harley costs new, there had better be one helluva resale value on that beast. I have lots of friends with these bikes, and they can sell them for barely less than they payed for them even after a few years.

Thats the beauty maddog. My bike is worth between 10-13 grand. Even though I only paid 4K for it. Although I have put a LOT of hard work and time and parts into it. I have about 2-3K invested in it. That doesnt include some of the free parts that came off my dad's bike during his "transformation" Do I could sell it and actually MAKE money off of it. The cool thing is that it will probably keep its value, of not increasing in value over the years. How many other machines can you say that about?

Not to put a damper on this non-winable debate, but did anyone happen to notice just how old this Thread is? I was posting on this thing a year ago, and now, here it is again. The funniest part is, that the debate is continuing like it never stopped way back in March of 2003. Continue on.

I do have a picture of a quadzilla that has a Harley motor in it. I has ape hangers and an extended swingarm. It looks pretty cool. I believe that I got it off this forum too. I also remember hearing that the "ATV" that was being developed in partnership with Harley was designed for the Dakar Ralley
