YZ250 Engine in a Blaster Chassis?
I recently came across a YZ250 Engine. I was thinking about obtaining a Blaster Chassis and fabricating it to mount the YZ250 Engine. Does anyone have any tips or helplful hints on this project. I would have to modify all the engine mounts, run the swingarm through the 250 Engine and then fabricate all the other engine mounts accordingly. The main problem would be getting the 250 pipe in and around the small blaster frame. I was planning on using the yz250 pipe and piping it to work with a blaster silencer since that mounts well on the rearend of the frame. I would have to mount a radiatior and figure out a way to get a foreward-kick kickstarter on the 250 engine. Any other ideas?

Why don't you just put a 240 kit in your blaster motor? Whoops, went right by the "just obtained a blaster chassie" part. It can be done but is time consuming, making the pipe work and fitting a radiator can be a hassle. If you have a 85-87 yz motor you could use a tri-z swingarm, it is only 1/8" wider than a blaster swingarm at the pivot .It would be easier to trim 1/16" off both sides than too cut the blaster arm out for the motor. You would also have the provision to run the tri-z rear hyd disk brake, plus if I am not mistaken the z arm is longer than the Blaster's. I was at a race where a guy had done this to his blaster.

Im guess im just looking for a project. I think it would be fun to make this work. The yz250 engine has a powervalve, that is one major advantage over a blaster engine. I also think it would offer more low end grunt power over the blaster powerplant even with a 240 kit. The powervalve would help add to a more crisp throttle response. And it would be somthing that kinda sticks out...not everyone has a liquid cooled YZ250 blaster with a powervalve.

More power=WIDEN THAT SUCKER OUT
DEFINATELY get longer A-Arms, and an extended axle. With all that extra power, you need every bit of stability you can get..... Like Pontiac says... "WIDER IS BETTER".... and if you thought a stock raptor was tippy.... put a YZ250 engine into a stock blaster frame and go hard into a turn at a track and watch as your set of two wheels on the inside of the turn rise up over your head and you get a taste of the local soil content... I have a warrior that I put a 86 tri-z motor in, I also switched top-ends and right side engine covers to a 85 yz for the powervalve. I cut out the rear fender for the rearward kick start, added a mojave radiator, and reworked a yz pipe to fit the frame. I also had to cut the swing arm out too fit the motor. When you do this you need to add bushings to the swing arm for support.
