What does a Degree key do
#6
depends, methanol likes more timing because of the increased octane in the fuel and the higher compression. Gas doesnt like much of an advance. It also determines what system you use. If you run a "brain box" (cdi) it advances and retarts your timing according to rpm. Where "set" ignitions such as a pvl are a specific timing advance (or retard) and it never fluctuates. This works fine because drag racers are always WOT and they dont need the advantages of a retarding and advancing ignition, they are only concered with a specific number that their motor responds best to.
Advancing an ignition can create a lot more power, but can also hinder performance. Talk to your builder and he will know what to set your motor up for.

Based on my previous experience with the Raptor timing key, you will gain around 1 screaming horse on a internally stock engine....maybe a tad more. I gained a consistent 2 lengths dragging.

I could'nt really feel any difference either. I had a bike too drag with before and after (many runs) the timing key........2 lengths. Worth the trouble of installation? I say wait until the 1-way starter gear goes out and do the mod while you are in there...and it will go out too.
