Spark arrest for stock raptor pipe?
#1
Does anyone know how to remove the spark arrest on the stock pipe. I though you just pulled it out after you take the bolt out, but it won't come. Can anyone lend a hand?

Just like DSAPP said, but I found it a little easier if you start up the bike and let the exhaust get hot. Seems to break the arrestor lose from the pipe easier. I've taken the arrestor out of 3 bikes now and two was a pain in the A$$, but one of them I started the bike and started tapping around the outside of the exhaust and the thing shot right out.
GOOD LUCK you will probably need it!!!!

Take out the bolt and ride it like you stole it.
Maybe it will work loose, you will be able to tell when it comes out due to the increase in sound.
Then you can go back and pick it up.

Kidding with the above but I have considered it since it seems stuck very good.
With my luck though it would stay in for ever but the things I want to stay bolted on will work themselfs loose.

If you want to put it back you can. It actually much easier to put back than take out.

hey "TheRaptorMan" !!!
so you've had some experience modifying stock Raptor exhausts... can you really feel a difference in power?

Just by taking out the arrestor you will get a much deeper/ louder sound, and you will be able to tell the difference (on low end especially). Honestly I think that the best/ cheapest mods for a stock Rappy is to...
#1 throw away that dumb a$$ rubber flap covering the carbs and the air box.
#2 cut or throw away the air box lid.
#3 change stock filter out for K&N and outerwear
#4 take out the spark arrestor
For a little bit of time and about 60$ you will be shocked at the gain... This is JMO
with the air box/ filter change you will most likely have to change jetting. If you only do the arrestor you will not have to change jetting.
I will put it like this I modded the air box, done the K&N, Jetting, and put on a Trinity pipe and I wouldn't out run a Rappy with the above mods by much. and there is about a 500$ difference in the mods, but once you start going deeper into the engine you will really start to see the aftermarket pipes making a BIG difference.

does everyone agree that if i take the spart arrestor off i will not have to rejet? Dont wanna screw anything up just to get a nicer sound and a slight amount of power.
To take if off, i just unscrew the cap on the muffler?
