Default your take on engine oil additives?!

this is a generic question not really directed to just atv engines. I was wondering what you guys think of them/experiences, etc..
Some people swear by them and some people think there a scam. So what u guys think?

BTW, im not talking about the bootleg stuff STP puts out. Im talkin bout slick50 and Zmax and things like that.

alright, thanks, warrior

The only oil additive that I have used that actually works is made by LUCAS, all of there products work great espacially the fuel injector cleaner. There engine additive really quieted down my motor in my 94 explorer and raised my oil pressure. JMO

Don't do it!!!!! Don't do it!!!!! Don't do it!!!!!

Change your oil on a regular basis with no additives.

Energy Release is a great oil additive. I run it in my 250x and have ran it in my truck (521 Ford stroker). It actually conditions the metal. It is awesome and won't harm clutches. FTZ has seen improved dyno numbers with it.

Hey airraptor,

Without looking this up I didn't think the 1984 Blazer had a 3.4 unless this motor has been replaced. It should have a 2.8 V6

GM started producing the 3.4 in 1993

warrior86,

I have never heard of zmax.

I have a 1986 S10 with the 2.8 and it runs quite good because it was ordered with the 3.42 ratio rear end.

If you get a good name brand oil you dont need to add additive. Like YFM660R said change your oil on a regular basis.
