Default painting banshee plastics

My shee came with yellow Fullbore plastics (front and rear) ...I want black ones with out spending a serious chunk of change for new plastics. Can I paint the plastics..? if so what kind of paint do I use...anyone tried this or have any other suggestions on how I could change the look of my shee? My friend painted the plastics on his 250 from red to black and it looked kinda shI$$y... but I dont think he put much effort into it..

thanks

sounds like a good way to ruin the plastic.. dont even both painting unless u get a pro to do it.. Those fullbore plastics look so damned awesome, so why even worry about painting it? You already look more bad@ss than 90% of banshee people out there..

You could have a professional autobody painter do it for you. They would need to custom-mix the paints to get one that will stick best to plastic and has some stretch to it, so that when you roll your qaud all the paint doesn't chip off. I think they need extra plasticizers or elasticizers, soemthing like that. It will probably cost you quite a bit. Therefore you are better off buying a new set of black platic, so you will have 2, or you could sell the yellow on ebay. Good Luck!!

I am going to have the plastics on my Rappy painted... the main reason being that I can match the exact color of my frame with paint, and as far as I know I have yet to see a company make that color red plastics!

Like Raptor Racer said it has to be mixed right and from what I have been told alot of it depends on a certain type of primer that must be used to help the paint stick. I will be droping off my plastics off this weekend, and I will let you know how it turns out.

As far as rolling over my guess is that the paint will fare about as well as the plastic not to well LOL

Dumont...

Here is the plan...
Rear fender will be that color red, the front radiator protector (not the shroud will be red), The gas tank cover will be red.

The front fender and radiator shroud will be black, but I am going to paint them black with a metalic in it.

Then I am going to ad some no fear skulls in red on the sides of the tank!

I am hoping that it will turn out ok...

Thanks for the comments... I will post some pics once I get it all back together!
