02 Tranny conversion question
#1
I'm in the process of converting my 01 raptor to the 02 tranny.
In the service manual, it doesn't mention anything about aligning the oil holes on the drive axle with the oil holes on the splined collars that some of the gears ride on. In fact, mine weren't aligned from the factory.
On Raptortranny.com, he says that the holes should be aligned.
Does this matter? It looks like it doesn't because the splined collars actually have a channel for the oil to flow machined all the way around their inner diameter. This would seem to mean that where ever the oil hole in the shaft is, the oil is free to flow to the gear through the two holes on the collar through this channel.
Just wanted to see what you guys thought. I went ahead and aligned the hole, but since the service manual makes no mention one way or the other, it doesn't seem to be something that needs to be worried about.
