The starter on my nephwes breexe works but will not turn over the engine. The intermidiate gear or starter ring are not broke. It will start some times but the starter will just spin others. Does the starter clutch need replaced?

 

does it have a good battery. sometimes a weak battery doesnt have enough juice th engage the starter

 

Yes the battery is good, and the yamaha dealer checked the starter and it is good. When i was in the side cover(the breeze is belt drive no oil in case) the starter ring seemed to catch instantly when turned by hand. But sometimes it fails to start and i can hear the starter spinning but the engine isn't. It does make a minor grateing or mild grinding noise when its spinning like the cluch is engaged but not fully. Are the belt pully's on the breeze pressed or spline fit?
