Broken Plastic Tab on Rear Fender
#1
While driving down the street in my truck with my Raptor in the back, I noticed that one of the rear fenders was flexing due to the wind. I looked at the plastic tab that mounts to a metal bar connected to the rear subframe and the plastic is broke. The tab itself is just fine, it is where the plastic tab connects to the actual fender.
Does anyone know how to perform this repair? I was hoping to repair the plastic. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to build a little bracket and drill a couple holes through the plastic so it will hold. First option is to fix the plastic though.
Thanks,

The soldering iron trick works well. Just smear the plastic around the tab real good. If you don't like that idea...find a local shop that does plastic welding. Usually you can find one in the phone book under machine shops.

I tried epoxy, not even worth it, fell apart again in a week. I have been running with no brackets at all back there for 6 months with no problems, the fenders just flop more, alot more in the mud, but they have not cracked or anything. They hold up well even like that, I am just gonna run mine that way untill i totally destroy it then just get new fenders.

Cheap fix is to get some of that plastic bond tube (not real sure of the name), but they sell it at Home depot. It comes in a tube you pinch off what you need then you blend together with you fingers, mold in place then it hardens (can paint to match the plastics). This the only thing I have found that will hold. My kid broke the front fender plastic bracket. Epoxy broke first trip, melted on plastic broke first trip, this over a year and still holding. Worked for me good luck.

I've used some plastic mend that I can only find at Ace Hardware. It is an epoxy that has a strength to 3,000 lbs per square inch. You have to clean the plastic with a wax & grease remover, scuff it up really well. I fixed the front end plastic on my Raptor and it was completely broken apart. It has been well over a year since the repair.
Fiberglass resin kits will work too as long as you scuff the surface really well.

Guess I'll be making a trip to the hardware store too. My rear plastic is wasted, after the last roll over in the snow and mud. I didn't see the long crack (no jokes please) in the left reaar fender until I washed all the mud off. That little bracket you are reffering to is called a fender stay. Yes I bent and replaced some of those too. If you go to the link I posted and click on OEM parts finder it has an online micrfiche. Enjoy...........
