Help with the Raptor, bumfuzzled!

About 3 months ago I installed a hotcams stage 1 cam. Once installed I hit the start button and the battery was dead. Used the jumper cables and she started up. Ever since then I have been having to jump it quite a bit. I thought "bad battery" cause I hardly ever ride it and it has been an especially cold winter. Well on a recent ride it started up fine all day without a jump. Till we stopped about 3 miles from home for a short break and it wouldn't start back. I had to bump start it cause it wouldn't jump. The starter acts like it has trouble turning the motor over. And first and foremost it is not the one way gear. I'm quite familiar with that situation. I took the side cover off the starter and took out the starter gear that turns the flywheel. The starter turned much slower than it was supposed to. Took the starter apart and cleaned it out and WALA, starter seemed to work fine then, turned much faster. Put everything back together and hit the start button, still acts like it has trouble turning the motor over. It's not the battery, I bought a new battery and even hooked it to a car battery to make sure it was getting enough cranking power. But, here's the kicker...I can take the plug out and it cranks just as it is supposed to. Put the plug back in and it struggles to crank over. I'm thinking at this point something with the decompression mechanism. That thing was a pain in the butt when putting the cam in. What do you guys think. If I can't get it fixed I'm going to get rid of the POS, it always breaks down for some reason or another.

Bartlett, your comment is interesting. I just put a new cam chain in when I done the cam install. It broke before because the screws backed out of the one way bearing and broke the chain. Lucky for me that was all the damage it done. But shouldn't the tensioner take up the slack if there is any? A new chain shouldn't stretch this soon should it? My dad seems to think my problem still lies in my starter, but keep in mind the starter seems to turn fine.

Yes I think it has something to do with the pin not hitting at the right time. Mine does the same thing and it is from the cam chain being stretched. Do you use a degree key?
