Things sure seem expensive in New Mexico.

 

power to weight ratio, lower, wider, and better demensions make the R kickass. and yamaha should just put the R1 engine in a quad frame. OK, no piped 250r will ever beat a piped Raptor in a drag. Maybe a 330R or 350R. Maybe a powervalve 250. But not a stock 250 with a pipe. On the MX track and in the woods the 250R can win, not because of power, but because it is lighter and lower. BUT, why do you think that alot of MX and XC pros are stuffing CRF450 and YZ426F motors in the 250R frame? Because the frame is great but the 250 engine is SLOW!

As for the reliability of the 400EX. That is because there is so little stress on the engine. The new Kawi and Suzuki 400s make a lot more power, have a similar frame geometry, and have so far proven to be very reliable.

This is a great subject (ford or chevy for truck guys)! I rode with the 400 Kaw last weekend. It looks like a green raptor. It kept up, but didn't blow anyone away (good wifes bike). In our group was 3 shees. THe raptor beat one (fatherin laws -totally cromed, not much speed mod), kept up with one, and got thumped by a jetted, piped, titanium-framed, 104 octaned, too much in the motor to mention, ridden by a 140lbser. I can live with that, at least until Rocky Mountain ATV makes their delivery next week!!!!

 

Qauds are expensive over here, i go to AZ for qauds its so much cheaper over there. A 03 blaster over here is $3,800 sticker price a 400ex or z is $5600. A ported, piped, and filtered 250 will take a raptor, i know cause thats what mine is and i just beat one the other day (its a 275 actually)

 

LOL thats funny my friend said his 1990 banshee would top out at 90 with no mods?? I really dont know but that seems like a lie.

 

hey 96southpaw i have to disagree with you saying people are wasting there money on 4stokes.... who have you been racing with on alky ds's??? have you raced dsmikes bikes yet? and for the money your better off with a 4 stroke, because the banshee or the ( faster banshees) will be blowing up all the time if you race the hell outta them.... i just dont believe that line crap... lol

 

true the 2 stroke is gonna out faster but is gonna be a hell of alot cheaper when it does. Once the 4stroke goes out its gonna cost a nut to get it working again

 

But a 2 strock is very hard to take care of and all the money u put in a two stroke will be over the price of a 4 stock.
